Registration of a film
Registration for the XXIV Rencontres Cinémas d’Amérique Latine de Toulouse (23th of march / 1rst of April 2012) are open till Monday DECEMBER the 12th of 2011 (deadline for RECEIVING of the material in our office)

The festival Rencontres Cinémas d’Amérique Latine de Toulouse invites Latin American directors and producers to submit their films for selection for the XXIV’s edition of the festival which will take place in Toulouse, France, from March 23 to April 1 2012. The tender is open for all full-length, medium-length and short films in the following categories: fiction, documentary, art and experimental films.
The registration will be open until MONDAY, 12th OF DECEMBER 2011, DEADLINE FOR RECEIVING THE FILMS IN OUR OFFICE.
The registered films will have a chance to be selected to be part of some of the categories described below in CATEGORIES.
Registration
There are 3 steps:
1. Complete the online application form (available in Spanish, Portuguese, English and French)
The application form collects the information about the film, the director, the production house and the copy to be screened. When applying, you should attach 2 photos of the film and 1 photo of the director.
2. Send us the DVD of the film for the pre-selection process
Send 2 region free DVDs. You must clearly label both the disk and the cover of the disk with the title of the film, the name of the director, the length of the film and the country of origin.
Not all DVDs need to be subtitled. However, if the film is not in Spanish, you must send the DVD with subtitles in either Spanish, French or English.
About the contents:
- We strongly recommend to verify that the DVD works on a different device than the one used for its creation.
- Preferably send a copy in its original box, and the second copy in an envelope, or in the same box.
- No extra information should be enclosed in the parcel. Please do not send extra CDs or distribution material (postcards, posters) because this material will only be requested if the film is selected.
- It is not necessary to enclose the printed application form.
- We will not give you back the DVD copies.

3. Reception of the DVD copies in our office
As soon as the film has arrived in our office, we will send a confirmation mail to the address of the contact that was given on the application form. The final date for receiving the films in our office is Monday, the 12th of December 2011. The people who register the films are responsible for making sure that the DVDs get to the festival office in the stipulated deadline. The films that would be received after the 12th December will not participate in the pre-selection process for the XXIV Rencontres.

Categories
Competition
(In order to participate in the competitive categories of feature films, of fiction or documentaries, the film must be unreleased in France.)
Official competition Feature films of fiction
14 feature films of fiction, unreleased in France are competing for:
- The Jury’s Crush Prize. This prize attributes a 6500€ grant to encourage the distribution of the awarded film, in France. This sum includes a part in cash and a part in a subtitling service. The jury is made up of cinema industry professionals.
- The Public Prize: This year, the local daily newspaper, “La Dépêche du Midi, : following your emotions”, will support the film that was best received by the public when it was released in Toulouse by offering it an advertising campaign in Toulouse, its region, and Midi-Pyrénées.
- The FIPRESCI Prize, International federation of film Critics, for a first work. The jury is made up of 3 journalists from the international press. The FIPRESCI guarantees a journalistic presence in 60 countries and awards the “International Review Prize” in more than 50 festivals every year, including Cannes Festival.
- The Prize “Découverte” from the French Review, for a first or second feature film of the director. The jury is made up of 3 journalists members of the French Union of Film Critics.
- The Rail d’Oc Prize: Given to a first work by the railway workers who enjoy cinema; “Ceux du Rail”
- The Prize "Lycéen", given by high school students
Official competition documentaries
7 documentaries unreleased in France are competing for:
- The SIGNIS Prize. A jury made up of professionals from the cinema gives this award. SIGNIS is the World Catholic Organization for Communication.
- The Prize "des Médiathèques de Midi-Pyrenées", gives 2.000€ as well as support for diffusion in public libraries in Midi-Pyrénées
- The Prize "Lycéen", given by high school students
Official competition short films
7 short films will compete for:
- The SIGNIS Prize short film: a jury made up of professionals from the film industry gives this award.
- The Courtoujours Prize: a jury made up of students from the university of Toulouse, in collaboration with the CROUS, gives this award.
PANORAMA: OFFICIAL SECTIONS OUT OF COMPETITION
OTRA MIRADA
Selection of films that, because of their form, are presented as particularly radical or risky. Otra Mirada forgets the difference between documentary and fiction: any feature film is likely to be selected in this section.
Panorama FICTION
Selection of fiction feature films from the current and the previous year, unreleased in Toulouse. The Panorama brings together new directors’ films as well as recognized directors’ films.
Panorama DOCUMENTARY
Selection of documentary films from the current and the previous year, unreleased in Toulouse.
Panorama Short Films
Selection of short films from the current and previous year.
